You may not know this about PT’s.
& you’d be completely justified too.
Because I bet if you walk into any gym in the UK, there’ll be at least 1 PT who is currently doing this or has done in the past.
Despite having no qualifications to do so whatsoever.
It’s selling meal plans.
Nowhere in any Level 3 PT course will they mention that once completed, you’ll be legally qualified to provide this service.
Don’t even get me started on online coaches – most of whom probably don’t even have a PT qualification in the first place!
What I had to do was analyse a food diary and provide recommendations on areas of improvement based on government guidelines.
Obviously each course will be slightly different but the providers will have to abide by certain legislation in order to put on said course.
So I’m very confident that no reputable L3 course will mention anything about being able to sell meal plans.
Yet somehow we’ve ended up in a position where it’s almost a given that a PT will include this in their package.
A guy actually hung up on me recently because I said I don’t provide meal plans alongside PT sessions!
For what it’s worth, I am qualified to provide them.
In almost 3 years I have only given out one set of meal plans and even then, that person was under strict instructions that they are only to follow them for two weeks at most.
If anyone offers this service to you then it’s in your best interest to ask them whether they’re qualified.
They’ll either gladly reassure you or start squirming in their seat.
